Hass, Dennis W. 66. April 23, 1946 ~ Oct. 04, 2012
Dennis W. Hass was born in Oregon City on April 23, 1946 to Frederick "Fritz" and Jeanne Hass. A marine and Vietnam veteran, Dennis grew up in Portland, attended William Clark Grade School and Marshall High School. Dennis received a football scholarship at Oregon State University and went to the 1964 Rose Bowl.
He was active in the Portland area as a volunteer of the Portland Rose Festival Foundation, the Special Olympics and part owner of Chappell Trucking. From an early age, Dennis had a love of deer and elk hunting with his father and uncles in the Starky area. Most recently his adventures took him to the peaks of Kilimanjaro, Mt. Everest, the Swiss Alps and the Fjords of his mother's home country of Norway.
Dennis was taken from his family by a tragic accident. He was preceded in death by his father, Fritz, in 1994. He is survived by his loving partner of 20 years, Janice Lampros of Beaverton; her three children; and eight grandchildren; mother, Jeanne Hass of Portland; older sister, Gail Campbell (Michael) of Portland; brother, Randy Hass (Gloria) of Bakersfield, Calif.; sister, Bonnie Hass (Robert Baetke) of Eagle Point. He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Lincoln Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 11801 SE Mount Scott Blvd., Portland. There will be a private entombment at Willamette National Cemetery. It is the family's wish that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Dennis's name to the Special Olympics.

Dennis was a classmate in elementary and high school and a neighbor as we all grew up on Mt Tabor. I am so sorry to hear that his life was cut short. I looks like he had a very good life and lived it to the fullest. Deepest condolences to his family and those close to him
