Obituary

Dennis Werner of Moody, died Monday, March 25, 2013, in Mt. Vernon at the age of 54. Graveside services and interment with military honors will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Cole Chapel, 304 Eighth Street, Moody with Reverend Terry Johnston officiating. Visitation from 10A.M. until 12 noon Thursday at Cole Chapel. Dennis was born July 26, 1958, the son of the late Leslie Emerson and Pauline Ida (Grimsley) Werner in Kendall, Florida. Dennis was born July 26, 1958, the son of the late Leslie Emerson and Pauline Ida (Grimsley) Werner in Kendall, Florida. In 1976, he graduated from Miami Palmentto High School where he played baseball. On July 17, 1980, he enlisted in the United States Air Force until his honorable discharge January 11, 1990 where he received many decorations and medals.
In 1990, he moved to Moody from Alexandria, Louisiana. Much of his life was spent as a truck driver in the transportation business. He was employed by J.B. Hunt for sixteen years where he received a million mile safety award. More recently, Conway Truck Load has employed him for six years and honored him with a half million mile award for safe driving. Throughout his life, he enjoyed baseball, bowling and NASCAR activities.

Survivors include two brothers, Jerry Werner and wife Sue of Canton, Georgia, David Werner and wife Gail of Charlotte, N. Carolina; a sister, Carol Hancock and husband Ron of Moody; several nieces, nephews and many extended family.
