Obituary

Deryl Edward Barineau, 79, Tallahassee Florida native and longtime resident of Jacksonville, went to be with the Lord October 24, 2012. He was the son of the late Jesse Edward Barineau and Rose Leigh (McCary) Barineau Underwood. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Sue Roberts and his step-father, James Roy Underwood. A graduate of Leon High School, Deryl was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and Army Reserve. Deryl Edward Barineau, 79, Tallahassee Florida native and longtime resident of Jacksonville, went to be with the Lord October 24, 2012. He was the son of the late Jesse Edward Barineau and Rose Leigh (McCary) Barineau Underwood. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Sue Roberts and his step-father, James Roy Underwood. A graduate of Leon High School, Deryl was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and Army Reserve. He completed his apprenticeship in Air Conditioning/Refrigeration and went on to become a Certified Industrial Professional Supervisor through Jacksonville University. Deryl worked in the industry for forty plus years in Sales, designing systems for commercial use. He was a member of the Mechanical Contractors Association, instrumental in establishing the Trade Qualifying Board for Clay County, and later taught Air-Conditioning Technology for the Apprenticeship program he helped pioneer at Jacksonville Florida Community College. Deryl served his community for twenty years in the Civil Air Patrol retiring as a Lt. Colonel with service as Squadron Commander and on The Florida Wing Staff. He was an artist and a member of the Beaches and Orange Park Art Guilds. Deryl was a thirty-second degree mason and was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Jacksonville Fl. Surviving are two daughters, Cindy Traylor (Doug) and Joan Alford (Jeff); grandchildren; Claire, Natalie and Brian Alford; brother-in-law Bill Roberts (Debbie) and sister-in-law, Penelope Roberts, six nieces and nephews and many other loving family members and friends. The family will greet friends for visitation on Monday, October 29th from 5 8 pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32207. The funeral service will take place in Tallahassee, FL on Saturday, November 3rd at Culley s Meadowood Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest next to his dear wife Sue in Roselawn Cemetery in Tallahassee. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hardage-giddenshendricksave.com.
