Funeral Services for Dewitt Howell, 87, will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers Blake Nicholas and Terry Smith officiating. The interment with full military honors will follow in City Cemetery
Dewitt died July 7, 2013 in Oxford, MS and was born June 4, 1926 to Frank and Lila Frazier Howell. He was retired from Refreshments Inc. and a member of Foote St. Church of Christ. Dewitt served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Monterey Aircraft Carrier in the Pacific. He attained the rank of Seaman First Class and received the Asiatic-Pacific Medal, Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, and the American Theatre Medal. Dewitt was a life member of the VFW and American Legion. He loved and cherished his family and enjoyed family vacations.
Preceded in death by his parents: Frank & Lila Howell
Survived by his wife of 65 years, Bobbie Howell of Corinth, MS, Son and daughter in law; Marshall & Lucretia Howell of Midland, TX. His Grandchildren are: Jon Howell & Vanessa: Scottsboro, AL and Hollie Pennington & Sam of Southaven, MS. Great grandchildren: Kayla, Kodee, and Callie Howell and Samuel Grant & Shepard Pennington.
Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to Service time Wednesday at the funeral home
