Diana Rathbun Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 8, 2013.

DIANA MOVIUS RATHBUN passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 6, 2013 in Meadows Place, Texas at the age of 68 after a long battle with a chronic illness. Diana was a beloved mother, grandma, sister, aunt, great-aunt, and friend to many.
She was born in Ross, California on August 23, 1944 to Dr. and Mrs. Alfred H. Movius, Jr. and raised in River Forest, Illinois. Diana graduated from the University of Indiana and worked for the Chevron Corporation in Houston, Texas until her retirement in 2004. She has been a resident of Galveston since that time. Diana loved singing in the Galveston Community College Choir and enjoyed volunteer work, Red Hat functions, the chick flick club, and her association with the Elks Lodge.
She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband, Michael Rathbun for whom she married in May of 1987 and lost in September of 2007.
Diana is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Stacey Boatright and Kevin Boatright; son Bryan Tucker; step-sons Eric and Vincent Rathbun. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Laurel, Abigail, and Wade Boatright; Lexi and Adriana Rathbun; and Michael Rathbun. Also surviving are her loving sisters, Judith MacPherson and Joan Ischinger and her nieces and nephews, Julie and Bryan Lane with their children Heidi and Eric; Butch and Jill Ischinger; Ray and Jill Kirk; Debbie and Walter Whitfield; John Records with his daughter Kendall; and David and Valerie Ischinger with their children Drew, Kaitlyn, and Jenna. She also leaves to grieve, her devoted friend, Frank Macaluso.
There will be a memorial gathering for friends and family. The family requests that donations to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Department of Leukemia be made in lieu of flowers as they and Diana's physician, Dr. Rahvandi treated her with loving care throughout her fight. Diana had a heart as big as Texas and has made each of us better people for allowing us to know her and love her.

My condolences go out to each and every one of you. May you find comfort from God through prayer. Also, may his promises found in his word be a source of hope and comfort to you as well (Isa 33:24).

My prayers go out to alI of the family, I was very saddened to get this news, I have worked with Diana for the past 6 years, and enjoyed her very much, I am glad for her that at least the struggle is over and know she will be keeping a watchful, loving eye on her whole family.

Having known Mrs. Rathbun only a short time she greatly touched my heart. We sat and talked about her past accomplishments and kept HOPE alive. My deep condolences go to her extended family in their time of need.
