Dolores J. Marquez (1934 - 2013)
Dolores Juanita Marquez, 79, succumbed to the complications of heart disease Wednesday afternoon September 25, 2013. She was surrounded by her loving family.
She was a much-loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and wife. She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Armando; children, Richard (Helen), Gloria Cedillo, Steve (Alexis), Mike (Laura), and Anna (Glenn Stewart); 14 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She was a fifth generation Yuman and was preceded in death by brothers Sonny and Bobby Higgins, and her mother, Lola Corea Higgins.
As an Air Force wife she made a loving home for her family in locations as diverse as Tucson, Arizona, and Anchorage, Alaska. She worked as a customer service assistant in Anchorage. When Armando began his second career as a Yuma police officer she became an administrative assistant at Mohawk Wholesale. She had a gift for welcoming friends and extended family to her home and making each person feel special. If asked, each one of her children was sure to respond that he or she was her favorite. For many years Dolores celebrated each Christmas season by leading her family in the preparation of hundreds of tamales. Family, friends of family, and Armando's fellow police officers, swelled the Marquez home each Christmas Eve to enjoy tamales and the generously offered and genuinely loving hospitality of Dolores . She had an adventurous spirit and traveled to Japan, Italy, Montana, Colorado, and California to spend time with her children. She will be missed by many.
Visitation will be held at Johnson's Mortuary on Monday, September 30, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with Rosary to begin at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 10:30 am. Interment to follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be; Katia Stewart, Alexander Stewart, Jacob Marquez, Kellen Marquez, Christopher Marquez, Ian Marquez.

We found this in that "special" drawer my Mother had...........
To those I Love and Those Who Love Me
When I am gone, release me, let me go-I have so many things to see and do. You must not tie yourself to me with tears, Be happy that we had so many years.
I gave you my love. You can only guess how much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, but now it's time I traveled on alone.
So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must, then let your grief be comforted by trust. It's only for awhile that we must part so bless the memories within your heart.
I won't be far away, for life goes on so if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near and if you listen with your heart, you'll hear all of my love around you soft and clear.
And then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile, and "Welcome Home!"
