Dr. Don Elmo Woodruff passed away at his home, May 14, 2013, with his wife and son Gary by his side.  Don was born December 29, 1932 in Santa Anna, Texas to Judge Pierre Woodruff and Nona Margaret Wallace Woodruff.  His brother, Wallace pre-deceased him.

Don enjoyed his childhood.  He became an Eagle Scout with the Order of Arrows, the first such award in Coleman County, Texas.

He graduated from Santa Anna High School in 1950; attended Texas State at Arlington from 1950-1951; University of Texas, Austin from 1951-1952.  In Austin, he met and married Jean Lucksinger.  They had three children, Don Elmo, Jr., Gary Duane and Donna Jean.

Continuing his education after the birth of his sons, he graduated from Houston Dental School of Texas with his D.D.S. in June, 1958.  He began his dental practice in Portland and Corpus Christi.  Wallace, his brother, loved Corpus Christi.  He urged Don to come visit, Don did so and never left.

Don’s aspirations grew, and he was accepted to the University of Montreal, Canada, and graduated as an orthodonist in 1969.  He returned to Corpus Christi and continued his practice in Corpus Christi and Kingsville.

Don loved the coast, was an avid fisherman, hunter and a licensed pilot.  He was a founder of the Gulf Coast Conservation Association.

In 1984 Don married Donna Arlene Fields Woodruff.  Together they traveled with friends and family enjoying retirement.  They enjoyed their homes located on the Intracoastal Canal in Corpus Christi and Ruidosa, New Mexico.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna; sons, Don, Jr. of Logan, Utah, Gary of Austin, daughter Donna Jean and husband Mat Starling of Austin.  Stepson, John and Cynthia Fields of Dallas; step-daughter, Debbie and Bruce Paldowic of Mission Viejo, California; four grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, one nephew, two nieces, cousins and many friends.

The family extends their gratitude to Dr. Salloum, Dr. Mackrizz and their staffs as well as Hospice for their exemplary comfort, care, support and love they provided to our loved one, Dr. Don Woodruff and his family.

The family will be receiving friends on Friday, May 17, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Cage Mills Funeral Directors.

Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Santa Anna Cemetery Pavilion in Santa Anna, Texas with interment to follow.
