Kathy & Davy Crawford

So very sorry to learn of Dona's passing. She was amazing.
Back in the 70s we would 'hang out' after the Colony Club - playing cards and shooting the breeze at their house and Glen & Dona would come to our house for Halloween/Christmas parties, etc. We had so much fun together and her laugh/giggles have always had a place in my memory.
Both Dona & Glen were such good friends...that comes from their kind hearts and souls. And, no matter whether we saw each other daily or months had passed, we were always welcomed with smiles and open arms.
Please try and find some comfort in all your memories (good and maybe the not so good), the lessons they taught, and the love they shared...this is your legacy.
Peace be with you.
Sincerely ~ Kathy & Davy

I am still in shock at the passing of my high school classmate, Dona. We lost contact, but reconnected over the last several years. I remember how much fun we all had when we acted like "stars" and rode in a limo to DC to see The Jersey Boys. Dona was a kind person and will truly be missed. Yes, she has earned her place in heaven and I will see you again someday.

My son Jordan had Mrs. Ashton last year for Kindergarten. I was so thankful for him having her; she was an amazing teacher. She loved her class just like they were her children. The last time I saw her, she was excited to have my son Carter next year. Carter was also excited to hear he was going to have Mrs. Ashton as well since he had been in her class several time. The news of her passing was devastating to me. When telling Jordan, he simply stated God needed a good kindergarten teacher for the kids that never made it to school, and she is the best. Your mother made such a positive impact on everyone she met. My prayers are with your family at this time but please feel comfort in knowing she is with God where she is truly and angel now.

Dona was like a 2nd mom to me. She took me under her wing during my 1st yr of teaching kindergarten at Bedington & she has remained my mentor & closest confidant for the past 9 yrs. For the past 9 yrs. we have cried over losses, celebrated birthdays & achievements, planned weekly lessons, attended summer classes & seminars, enjoyed our quick 30-minute lunch breaks....the list goes on & on. She was such a wonderful person, friend, teacher, mother, and grandmother. She loved her daughter & grandaughter all the way to the moon & back:) Bedington will never be the same without her....she touched so many lives & she helped to make me the teacher that I am today. I know Dona is watching over us all...our special angel:) Sending my love to Kori & Tahkodha...I pray you find peace in knowing that Dona is in a better place now.

Dona was one terrific kindergarten teacher. I always used to kid around with her about her tough love ways, but I would always remind her that I said this because I admired the way she taught her students to behave in the school. The last time I spent with Dona will be a nice memory, she lost her keys after the Apple Harvest Parade and we searched up and down Tenn. ave looking for them. She told me not to worry about it, but I'm so glad I walked with her because I got to hang out with my old friend having a nice conversation on a beautiful fall afternoon. She appeared on my doorstep about two weeks later telling me she had located her keys, and thanked me again for helping her search through the leaves for her lost keys. Dona thank you for losing your keys because little did I know this would be my last good bye to a dear friend.

Sarah (Shanholtzer) Panek

I've known Dona and Kori my whole life growing up right across the street. Kori was my first best friend and we spent many days playing and swimming under the caring and watchful eye of Dona. This loss has come as such a shock to my family and me and I can't imagine what my dear friend Kori must be going through. She loved both her mom and dad, and grandma so much and I can only send her the warmest wishes of grace and strength as she tries to cope with this. I know her beautiful daughter, Tahkodha, will bring her comfort and hope and I will love the Ashton family always.

Donna and her High School friends used to visit Kenny's Shoe store ( 100 block North Queen Street ) where I worked in 1966. Our friendship lasted through the years as Donna was very instramental in my Granddaughter's education. Donna has earned her place in Heaven. This earth has lost an angel.
