My Uncle Don was a man of superior will, passion, intellect, and commitment to fully engage with his fellows - both as an American and as a man vested in family. I am grateful and proud to be a descendent of the 3 Main brothers Dick, Don, and J.D. (my father). On the day of J.D.'s funeral service (Dec. 1971), Uncle Don wrapped his coat about me at graveside in a caring, protective gesture that I have never forgotten. Today I wrap the coat of a prayer about Don's spirit, and wish him Godspeed in the kingdoms of love and light.

A farewell salute from one veteran to another. Don Main was a first class man and officer as evidenced by the manner in which he carried himself. I always believe God has a special place for us old soldiers and now Don will take his place of honor amongst the other heroes. Marilyn, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
