Donald George Slater
(Age 92)
Of Greenacres, WA passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015 at his home. He was born January 6, 1923 in Spokane, WA to George and Katherine (Buck) Slater and lived in the Spokane area for most of his life. He graduated from high school in Wilbur, WA and loved working on the area farms. He met his wife, Ila Jean (Sue) Dieringer there and they were married on March 6, 1943. Don enlisted in the Army and served in WWII until 1945. He worked many years for Clark Equipment Company. He loved to go hunting and take his Airstream on the road to many different places. He served as President of the Wally Byam Airstream Caravan Club for many years.
He is survived by his companion, Norma Echelbarger; children, Cathy and Wendell Adams, Christine Slater, Ron and Brenda Waggoner; nine grandchildren, Wendy, Jennie, Todd, Jeff, Mike, Sandy, Brook, Jack, and Daniel; 24 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, "Sue" of 58 years, infant son Donald George Slater, Jr., and daughter Linda Waggoner.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 1:00PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 21022 E. Wellesley Ave., Otis Orchards, WA with burial to follow at Pines Cemetery, 1402 S. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA.
The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Village for the loving care they have given our Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather.

The Washington State Veterans Cemetery extends our deepest sympathies to the family of Donald G. Slater for our loss. We honor him for the service and sacrifice he has made for our nation, he is a true hero.

We are so sorry to hear of Don's passing. We'll always remember the good times our family's had growning up and the special times our parents had together in their retirement traveling and playing cards and games. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
