Of Jackson, Michigan passed away at home on April 22, 2013 at the age of 89. Don was born on April 9, 1924 in Parma Twp. Michigan. He served our country as a Naval Aviator during World War II. He then served the Jackson community as a dentist for many years. He loved farming, gardening, and being outdoors with friends and family. Most important to him was the time he spent with and nurturing his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 52 years Dolores (2001), his brother Duane and his sister-in-law Margaret. A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church (275 W. Michigan Ave., Jackson). Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Albion, Michigan. Bill, Nancy, Dave, and Chuck,
I came upon this notice of your Dad's death while using Google to search for some address or other contact info for Nancy. If I had known about his death, I would have come to the service, but I don't keep up with the Jackson obits and no one else in our extended family let me know. Tonight, I was "scrapbooking" a page about your grandfather, my "Uncle Bill", which made me think of you all. I have been so sad for too long at being out of touch with your family. The last time I mailed something to Nancy, it came back to me. And now I am even sadder to learn that your Dad died without me ever getting another chance to visit him since your Mom died. I have tried numerous times to reach him since our daughter, Cindy, has been living in Jackson, but I have always failed, somehow. Please know that my heart feels your loss and your sorrow is mine, too. Your Dad and Mother were very special people in my life, along with your Grandfather and Grandmother. I miss them all and the good times we used to have at family reunions. If any of you are reading these posted guest messages, please, please contact me. I would so love to hear from you.
Bill and I are in Detroit, Cindy (m. Peter Morrison, but still goes by Landrum) and her family are in Jackson, Cathy and Gary (Schrock) are in Holt, and Carrie and her Peter (Cseh) are in Canton, but she still goes by Landrum, also. My email is [email protected]. I'm also on Facebook.

Bill, Nancy, Dave, and Chuck,
So sorry to hear of your dad's passing. May your memories give you comfort and strength for now and forever.

Abbott family,
As a high school friend of Chuck's, Don represented strength and reassurance to an impressionable teenager. His love of family and the pride he took in each of his children was so noticeable.

I had the pleasure of seeing Don & Delores each week at FUMC until Delores' passing. They were always filling me in on how each of you were and where Chuck's latest move was to.

I will forever remember your Mom and Dad as good Christian people, hard working and love of family.

To the family of Donald Abbott:
I was passing by when I saw this page, and wished to send my condolences to you. While I did not know Donald personally, I know that from one stranger to another, times come when we can all lean on each other for fellow feeling. I know that I would have been graced to be in the presence of someone who has lived through so much history, surrounded by so many who loved him. It is truly comforting to think that our loved ones are in peace, and that we will soon be able to see them again and enjoy peace on earth forever with them. I know that Donald would relish in the hope that once again, he too ‘will certainly build houses and have occupancy, and certainly plant vineyards and eat their fruitage', just as we were all originally promised. (Isaiah 60:21-23)
I will keep you in my thoughts; if I could be of any assistance and hopefully of comfort, please feel free to contact me.
