A good friend with whom I played a little football back in the 50's. We both attended Superior Ave Baptist Church in Bogalusa; where his Mother was very active in all aspects of the church life.

I did not know what had happened to him after he left Bogalusa, but I did know that he had moved to the Pineville-Alexandria area. He was a good friend and I missed him and wondered where he was and what had happened to him. I sure wish that I could have touched base with him in the last sixty years or so.

Suffice it to say, my prayers are with his wife and family. It is comforting to know that we will all see him and his sweet Mother again some day.

I am going to try to send a picture of the Bogalusa High School Junior Jacks of 1951. He is standing on the back row, third player from the left (68) and I am fifth player from the left on the back row (67).

A good man and good friend gone, but never forgotten

Michael and the rest of Don's Family.
I was shocked and saddened to read about Don's Passing in the Bogalusa Paper this morning. Don is my second Cousin and has Visited with My wife Valette and I in recent years. We thoroughly enjoyed his visit and having the opportunity to hear about his family and to relive old times together. I will miss Don and knowing how much his family meant to him and he to them, I know he will be greatly missed up there as well. Don and I both did a litte art work, Mine not nearly as outstanding as his but it gave us a lot in common.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all and knowing how I feel his loss I cannot imagine where all of you are.
Please take care of each other and If you need to get me. give me a call or send me an email.

I was privileged to work for Don in the 90s at LHC. He was truly suave and sophisticated and such a gentleman. What a gift it was to be able to visit with him this past December. His wit and charm had deepened with age, and I will treasure the memory of that visit always. My deepest condolences to Don's family.

Tracy and Troy and family,
I am brokenhearted to hear of your father's death. I'm only thankful that we could reconnect, if only briefly, in the past year. I will never forget that day on your mother's farm! Looking at those pictures of Don when he was young bring back vivid memories of your sweet brother Donny. They were so alike. Please accept my sincere condolences and know that you are all in my thoughts.

To Don's family,

We are saddened to learn of Don Adam's death. I knew him in Winston-Salem when Don Layno and I opened the first high-end wine store in North Carolina in 1972. He designed the logo - a copy of which hangs in my wine room today.

In the late 80's we and the Laynos had apartments at Peppertree Resorts at Atlantic Beach and one night had a hugh joint supper on the porch. Don wrote out the menu in beautiful script AND bought the wine for the occasion. Our daughter Louise remembers going to the store with Don to buy the wine and is still shocked that he insisted on buying the best wine in the store.

Don was a gracious gentleman whom we enjoyed on many occasions and will miss him on future trips to North Carolina.

With fond affection,

Dick and Elaine Ottaway, Brewster, MASS.

Words are inadequate to express my feelings at the loss of our cousin, Don. Being nine years younger than Don, I always looked up to him and admired his talents, his athleticism and his overall joie de vivre. He was, to put it simply, a great guy!

I last saw him at our cousins reunion two years ago. It was such a pleasure to be with him and to talk once more about events of years past. As we gather for our next reunion later this month, we will surely miss his presence, his endearing smile and the privilege of sitting and talking with him.

My friend is gone, he won't return, but I believe I'll see him again someday. Then I'll tell him "I loved you like a brother. You were my friend, co-worker, partner, boss. I had plans for visiting you when you got a little better. But you left too soon." Dear Family, my heartfelt prayers go out to you for your adjustment to life without this special person.

Dear Tracy and Family,

I have very fond memories of Don as a child growing up and riding between he and his mother on trips to Beaumont, Tx and also visits to Bogalusa. He was always a barrel of laughs and I will always remember his kind ways. I am so glad that we got to visit at our last cousin reunion in Franklinton. We will always miss him in our reunions here on earth but know that he is at the greatest reunion of all.
