Donald Allan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 5, 2012.

Donald Allan
1948-2012

Donald Allan, retired employee of Pratt & Whitney Canada, passed away at Charles Lemoyne Hospital on Sunday November 4, 2012 at the age of 64. He fought a very brave, but short battle with lung cancer.
Don is lovingly remembered, and survived, by his wife Cheri Cameron and their faithful companion "Sam", his dog. Those left to treasure Don`s memory are: his mother Lena; his brother Mike (Bev); his twin sister Donna (Jimmy) as well as his 3 sons Jayson (Sharon); Chad (Cyndi); Curtis (Michelle); his daughter Candace (Dominic) and his step daughter Shena (Bernie). Don will also be sadly missed by his 18 grandchildren: Hanna, Maya, Emma, Trinity, Catherine, Caitlan, Cameron, Seraphina, Caledonia, Nathanial, Kennedy, Sasha, Jack, Aidan, Evelyn, Benn, Finn and Noah
Don had a nature you could not help loving and a heart that was purer than gold, and for those who knew him and loved him, his memory will never grow cold. His boisterous laugh will continue to ring, to sing, in all of our ears and hearts. You are now free to soar with the eagles.
The visitation will be held at Collins Clarke MacGillvray White`s funeral home, 307 Promenade Riverside, St-Lambert, Quebec J4P 1A7 on Friday November 9, 2012. Relatives and friends may visit from 14h00-17h00 and then from 18h00-20h00. A memorial service will take place afterwards at 20h00 in the chapel onsite.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the SPCA Monteregie.

Cheri and family,

In the close to 30 years of knowing this larger than life man, I came to appreciate what Don taught me about integrity and honour. His gruff exterior was always betrayed by his infectious laugh and love for people. I can not express the great sense of loss I felt on hearing of Don's passing and much less understand yours. I can offer hope and comfort though, by taking the following words into all of your hearts and know that you are not alone and will never be forsaken.

“Hope precedes all prayer, but it is only when the answer comes do we recognize the difference that Faith makes in praying. Faith is the way you use God's grace. It's our part to exercise the Faith God authors, but its God's part to finish it."

I have and will continue to pray for you to have peace, hope and encouragement from God during this time of grief.

I had the pleasure and opportunity to meet and work with Don on his work travels to Winnipeg several years ago. He was a person always being positive about work activities and life, being trueful and to the point, having a good sense of humour, and happy nature about life, and the continuous love and caring for his family as he would mentioned them on a daily bases.

It was too soon for Don to leave us and our prayers are with him. I know he has gone to a good place and will continue to look upon us with his memories.

My condolences to all of Don's family for their loss.

I met Don around 3 years ago during one of his many travels to Winnipeg. We always had interesting times!

Wow, he leaves quite an impression on your life! His laugh, his wonderful stories and his devotion to work were some of the many qualities I can describe about him. The shocking news of his passing was extremely sad but his wisdom and love will last in all that knew him. It was a tremendous honour that I got to know such a wonderful man!

Rest in peace Don, my friend! One can only hope to leave a legacy as powerful as yours.

My condolences to Cheri and the family, I regret not getting the chance to meet you. He cared a great deal for all of you!

Don was a "Big Man". He had a big heart, a big smile, and a big, kind, and giving nature to him that endeared him to all of us here at Pratt & Whitney. Don was well known and tremendously well liked during his many years at P&WC. I will always remember Don for the frendship he showed me and for the help he gave me.
My deepest sympathies go out to Don's family and friends.
Rest in peace Don.

Don was an amazing man. He took me under his wing at Pratt and we travelled to Winnipeg together many times. During those trips, he not only taught me about quality and deliveries, he taught me about life. Stories of his youth, fishing, the dance studio, his children and grandchildren and the beautiful life he lived. He was not only my mentor, he was my friend. I will miss him dearly but the great memories keep bringing me smiles. My deepest sympathies to Don`s family.
