Donald's path through life closely mirrors my own and that of my husband, Mike. Local high school, Armstrong, UGA. Donald went on to a fine career in the Savannah legal community. I feel a real kinship with the Austin family and I share their sense of loss of a beloved father, husband, provider and true pillar of our legal and civic community. Donald will be missed by both his family and his beloved Savannah. I share this sense of profound loss, but I also know that his very full life will be celebrated by all who knew him.

It is not possible to express, in words, my gratitude for the unconditional love shown to me by Mr. Austin and his family through the years that I have been friends with them. I consider Mr. Austin's influences as "benchmarks" in my life that refer to and reflect on often for direction. The deepest impressions being his ceaseless willingness to help anyone in need, even at his own expense, and most importantly the love, the boundless love. Well, how appropriate, always thinking outside the "box" and teaching others the same. Mrs. Austin, Mark, Steve, Debbie, and Travis we are sorry for your loss and Katie and I are praying for the Lord to draw all of you close. Sincerely Kris and Katie Morgan

Dear Ann and children,
My fondest memory of Don is of Sunday afternoons, after lunch, when Don would come walking through Freddy and Gracie's backyard with two small dogs on leashes to sit in Pearlie and George's yard and visit. Eventually, small children either replaced or were added to the small dogs. What a wonderful time that was full from Sunday lunches, sitting under the huge live oaks visiting! I don't think Don missed a Sunday afternoon, unless bad weather was involved. I know he will be greatly missed but I also know there was lots of love among you all. Our sincerest and deepest sympathies. We are in the process of moving from Springfield in two days. Many wonderful memories will go with us. Those Sunday afternoons are among them.
