Obituary

Donald A. Bauer, 78, of Sheboygan, died unexpectedly on Sunday, October 16, 2011, following an apparent heart attack. Don was born July 9, 1933 in Sheboygan to John and Emily (Ertel) Bauer. On August 20, 1966 Don and Barbara Voigt were united in marriage. The couple formerly resided on N. 9th St. and later N. 22nd St. Barbara preceded him in death on February 25, 1999. Don was employed at the Sheboygan paint Co. for over 25 years until his retirement. Donald A. Bauer, 78, of Sheboygan, died unexpectedly on Sunday, October 16, 2011, following an apparent heart attack.
Don was born July 9, 1933 in Sheboygan to John and Emily (Ertel) Bauer.
On August 20, 1966 Don and Barbara Voigt were united in marriage. The couple formerly resided on N. 9th St. and later N. 22nd St. Barbara preceded him in death on February 25, 1999.
Don was employed at the Sheboygan paint Co. for over 25 years until his retirement.
Mr. Bauer was a baptized and confirmed member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served as usher and sang with the church choir.
Don would often be found playing cards with his friends and family. He also enjoyed playing golf, was an avid bowler, and closely followed Wisconsin sports. Over the years, Don was a member of many softball, bowling and horseshoe leagues. Don was a board member of the Sheboygan Softball Association, where he served on the board of directors and as umpire. He was inducted into the inaugural Sheboygan Softball Association Hall of Fame in 2000. Don tried his hand at various artistic activities and had a passion for working on jigsaw puzzles.
Survivors include three children, Todd (Melissa) Bauer and Chad (Suzanne) Bauer of Sheboygan and Brenda (Robert) Wagner of Green Bay; six grandchildren, Thiela, Brandon, Hailey, Easton, Kyle and Megan; two sisters, Elvera (Lee) Krenke of Grafton and Elaine (Don) Hoppe of Sheboygan; and other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, Barbara, Don was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Wally and Elmer.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 2:00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. A time of visitation and support will be held at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels on Tuesday (TODAY) from 4 – 7 P.M. and at the church on Wednesday from 12:30 P.M. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated for the memorial fund established in his name.
Dad, PaPa and Pa will be remembered for the close relationship shared with his children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
