BRAUNER, Donald James, Sr., 95, of Tampa, surrounded by his family, went home to be with the Lord on July 26, 2014 . He was born in Washington, DC., to Ruth and Victor Brauner. He graduated from the University of Maryland in 1942 and proudly served in the Army Corp of Engineers in WWII (Europe). He moved with his family to Tampa in 1954 and established one of the first Dairy Queen stores in Tampa on E. Hillsborough Ave. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marion Ludka. BRAUNER, Donald James, Sr., 95, of Tampa, surrounded by his family, went home to be with the Lord on July 26, 2014 . He was born in Washington, DC., to Ruth and Victor Brauner. He graduated from the University of Maryland in 1942 and proudly served in the Army Corp of Engineers in WWII (Europe). He moved with his family to Tampa in 1954 and established one of the first Dairy Queen stores in Tampa on E. Hillsborough Ave. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marion Ludka. He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Miriam Alexander, daughter, Judith Tanner, sons, Donald J. Brauner, Jr., Stephen F. Brauner (Kathy), and brother, Glenn V. Brauner (Doris). He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Kenneth Tanner, Allison Herrington, Amy Collins, Donald Brauner, III, Carly Brauner, 5 great grandchildren, Bradley Tanner, Garrett Tanner, Eli Herrington, Ava Collins, Everett Herrington, nieces, nephews and other loving family. Services will be held at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 E. Lake Ave. Tampa on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 10:30 am. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
