Donald Raymond Burns was born on December 29, 1957, in Everett, WA. He passed away on August 21, 2013 in Coupeville, WA. He was 55 years old.
He is survived by his three children, Angela Brown, Aimee Rose, and Robert Burns. He also left behind 5 grandchildren, and 7 siblings.
He was the youngest child of Robert and Myrtle Burns of Everett, WA, both deceased.
Don was a longtime Whidbey Island resident. He was a retired Chief Engineer with Foss Maritime Company, and an Inland Boatmen's Union member. He was happiest when he was on a boat, enjoying the water. He was a generous and fun-loving man, a proud father, and a loyal friend to many. He left us unexpectedly and far too soon.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial reception, bring and share, for food and sharing favorite memories of Don. It will be held on Saturday, September 21, at 2:00, at the Holmes Harbor Rod and Gun Club.

There's so much pain & feeling of loss at times like this it's hard to put into words. I just recently heard the news & I felt real shock. I can only say how sorry I am for all of his family.

My baby brother, Donny.
Not being around Donny in his adult life, I missed out. Thank God for cell phones! I knew each and every one of you.The stories that each of you told, I don't think the South end will ever be the same. Clams and all.
His family and friends made him into a man larger than life than self. He was truly loved and missed by many. Special thanks to Jeff and Sarah, everyday friends, he loved the most. And to Billy's family for making the memorial to the beat of the drum. It was AWESOME!!--- love y'all, Betty

Don, we spent time in the 'Younger Years' and I enjoyed the fun I had with your family. Your passing will open many old memories as well as moments of youth, age, wisdom; some good some sad but all that made you the whole person that you are. My heart is with all your family as they look for peace and answers in a time of healing. May you all find peace and a happy memory to hold forever. ~ Cousin Debbie ~

A happy memory of mine is when Betty (Don's sister) would take a group of us kids “foolin' around”, and we would always stop to pick up little Angie at the house in Lake Stevens. All of us kids were always greeted with a cheerful squeal from Angie, a happy smile from Elaine and a “Well hello there” followed by a chuckle from Angie's dad.
May all of you find peace and remember the love he Donny brought to everyone.

Its so hard to come up with the right words to memorialize my Dad. He was the most generous and caring Dad anyone could ever ask for. He was my friend and my confidant. I took comfort in knowing he was always on my side cheering me on thru life. I am going to miss our daily talks. If I could I would tell him thank you for sharing his love of the water with me. For giving me a childhood surrounded with boats and plenty of fresh seafood! I thought I was going to have a lot more memories to make with him, but I take comfort in all the time we did spend together.
This is truly the saddest time my family and I have yet to experience in our lives. To all those who have reached out to us, thank you. Adam, myself, and our girls are truly grateful for the love and support we have received.
