Donald M. "Fergie" Ferguson, 82 of Merritt Island, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014. Don was born February 16, 1932 in Sharon, Pennsylvania. He served as a 3rd Class Petty Officer in the US Navy and was stationed on the USS Robert H. McCard (DD-822) of the Atlantic Fleet during the Korean Conflict. After an honorable discharge, Don married his loving wife of almost 45 years, Helen, and they began their life on Merritt Island. Donald M. "Fergie" Ferguson, 82 of Merritt Island, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014. Don was born February 16, 1932 in Sharon, Pennsylvania. He served as a 3rd Class Petty Officer in the US Navy and was stationed on the USS Robert H. McCard (DD-822) of the Atlantic Fleet during the Korean Conflict. After an honorable discharge, Don married his loving wife of almost 45 years, Helen, and they began their life on Merritt Island.

Don worked for over 30 years as an Electronic Technician and Manager for RCA in the aerospace industry. He worked on the Gemini program, the Aerostat program and with military simulators and detection devises in concert with the US Coast Guard, as well as the Seismograph Activity program as a contractor for TRW. His quirky sense of humor always kept his coworkers and friends on their toes! He enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, stargazing, and Sunday family dinners. Don spent countless hours volunteering for the Merritt Island High Quarterback Club, Youth Football, Edgewood PTA, and at the Brevard Community College Observatory.

Don is preceded in death by his wife Helen, son Donald B. Ferguson, and parents, George and Joyce Ferguson. He is survived by his daughters, Sharon Parker (Gary) and Trish Bauer (Tim); his grandchildren Dale Willard (April), Mike Bauer (Sammie), Brian Willard (Leila) Brint Bauer (Jana) and Jakob Ferguson. He also enjoyed and adored his six beautiful great grandchildren, Lauren Willard, Jessica Willard, Josiah Willard, Selah Willard, Serina Willard, and Dawson Bauer. Don is also survived by his brother Jan Ferguson (Sherry).

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the administrators and staff of the Health Center of Merritt Island for the care and love that Don "Fergie – Hall Monitor" received during his stay.

We will share memories, smiles, laughs and tears with friends on Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 2:00 – 4:00pm at Wylie Baxley Funeral Home, 1360 N Courtenay Parkway, Merritt Island, FL 32952. A brief Memorial Service will begin at 3:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations are made to the .
