Obituary

Greer, Donald J., July 16, 2012, died peacefully at his home surrounded by the love and support of his family and friends. Mr. Greer was born and raised in Kenmore N.Y. There, he was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church for thirty years before moving to Clarence and joining the First Clarence Presbyterian Church in 1961 serving as an elder, deacon and trustee. He married his pre-war sweetheart, Norma L Fiend, in 1947 and they enjoyed a full fifty years of love and marriage until her death in 1997, he married Dlolores Greer who passed away in 2002. Greer, Donald J., July 16, 2012, died peacefully at his home surrounded by the love and support of his family and friends.
Mr. Greer was born and raised in Kenmore N.Y. There, he was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church for thirty years before moving to Clarence and joining the First Clarence Presbyterian Church in 1961 serving as an elder, deacon and trustee. He married his pre-war sweetheart, Norma L Fiend, in 1947 and they enjoyed a full fifty years of love and marriage until her death in 1997, he married Dlolores Greer who passed away in 2002.

As a veteran of WWII, Mr Greer served as Battalion Supply Sergeant in the 39th Aarmy Signal Corps under the U.S. 9th Army and British 2nd Army where he was awarded four campaign battle stars. He received the Bronze Star Medal for conspicuous bravery during action while crossing the Rhur and Rhine Rivers and was promoted to Warrant Officer shortly before the end of the conflict in Europe.

Mr. Greer worked for the John W. Cowper Company, a general building contractor for thiry five years. As a key team member of Cowper, he helped the company reach their goal to build many of the fine skyscrapers and edifices that grace Western new York today. He retired from the firm in 1981 as Vice-President of Finance and Secretary- Treasurer.

He is survived by his son Robert J. and daughter Patricia (Jesus Velasquez) Greer, grandfather of Sonora, Ferron, Merlin and Donald, his sister of Alice (Al) Jones, and dear friend Carol Dougherty. Family present Thursday, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Danzer, Dengler, Roberts Funeral Home,(5363 Genesee St., Bowmansville). Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, 9675 Main St. Clarence, N.Y. 14031. Donations to the Church or Hospice Foundation.
