Don and his wife, who survives him, have lived in Suntree for 15 years, having moved there from South Florida. He was a builder-developer before his retirement, having owned and operated Haxby Development Corp. in Fort Lauderdale. Among his projects were medical and other office buildings and shopping centers. In 1970 he ran an unsuccessful campaign for the Florida House of Representatives. Don was a Fort Lauderdale Ambassador and a founder of the Miami Hurricanes Quarterback Club of Broward County. An avid, scratch golfer himself, he was a co-chair of the Honda Golf Classic and became a member of the SunTree Club upon moving to this area.

Don, a native of Chicago, attended the University of Illinois where he played basketball. He left school to enter the Army in 1950. He served in the Army's Criminal Investigation Division until his discharge in 1952. He spent the next four years as an Army reservist, meanwhile enrolling at The Ohio State University where he met his wife, June.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Florida Memorial Gardens, Rockledge, with the Rev. Hoyt Byrum officiating.

In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to the OSU Wexner Medical Center to fund (301849) supporting infectious disease research education and training. Please send donations to: Office of Development, 660 Ackerman Rd., P.O.box183112, Columbus, OH 43218.
