Donald Kobischka Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 17, 2013.

Donald R. Kobischka, 83, Rockford, passed away on August 16, 2013. He was born on December 25, 1929 in Rockford to Fred and Myrtle (Carey) Kobischka. He attended Rockford Public Schools and was a veteran of the Korean War.
Donald married Lillian McCabe on November 8, 1950 and worked for over 40 years as a machinist at Greenlee Brothers. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He was an avid walker, loved puzzles and was meticulous about his lawn care, but he loved his family the most and there are many happy memories of the Sunday gatherings with the family over banana bread.
Donald is survived by his children, Brian (Beverly Joyce) Kobischka, Brenda (Ken) McDonough, and Bruce (Sherry) Kobischka; grandchildren, Andrew Kobischka, Kalin O'Brien, Richard Steiner Jr., Ryan Steiner, Jason Kobischka, and Courtney Edson. He is also survived by many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lillian; parents, Fred and Myrtle; and siblings, Clifford, Fred Jr., Edwin, Arline Moore, Mary Lou Kleindl, and Gerald.
Funeral service will be held at 10am, Wednesday, August 21st, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park. Reverend Jane Eesley will be officiating. Visitation will be held the night prior from 6pm to 8pm. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens with a luncheon to follow at Christ United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Christ United Methodist Church.
