Donald Leroy "Duck" Melton, 73 passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013 after a lengthy illness. He was born April 22, 1939 in Union Co, SC to the late Joseph and Mamie Melton.
Donald is survived by his wife of 52 years, Myrtle Melton of Belmont, NC; two sons, Roger Melton (Elizabeth) and Wayne Melton (Elaine) all of Gastonia; twelve grandchildren, Brad, Crystal, Adam, Tony, Stephanie, Emily, Tiffany, Roger, Chris, John, Jerry and Robert; fourteen great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Melton of Thomasville, NC.
Donald was preceded in death by one son, Donnie Melton.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Carothers Funeral Home, 312 W. 2nd Ave, Gastonia. Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
