Donald Gordon Parrotte, 86, of Fredericksburg, Virginia died Sunday November 17, 2013 at Mary Washington Hospital. He was born April 3, 1927 and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. Don is a World War II Veteran having served in the Seabees.
Aside from Don's family, his true love was the Ferguson Fire Department in Ferguson, Missouri where he began his career in 1947 as a private. He worked his way up through the ranks, serving his last 17 years as Fire Chief before retiring in 1995. All together, he served 48 years at the Ferguson Fire Department.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Irene; twin sons Jene (Michele) of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Jeffrey (Judi) of Ballwin, Missouri; grandchildren Matthew (Erin), David, and Catherine of Fredericksburg, Richard of Salt Lake City, Utah and Clay of St. Louis, Missouri, one great-granddaughter, Piper, of Fredericksburg.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mable and Gordon Parrotte, and sister, LaVerne Land.
A service to celebrate Don's life will be held at Antioch United Methodist Church, 138 Kellogg Mill Road Fredericksburg, VA 22406 on Wednesday November 20th at 6:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may also be sent to the church.

ART LAND
I have great memories of riding the train to ST Louis to see Uncle Don, Aunt Irene the boys and even Andre the poodle.
We will miss Uncle Don very much. God Bless.

Don will be missed by many. I had the honor of working with him for many years at the Ferguson United Methodist Church in Ferguson, MO. He was a very hard working and dedicated member of the church and willing to help anyone, anytime he could. My sympathy to his wife, Irene and the family; God bless.
