Donald L. Ridenour, 83, of Lima , went to join his family members in their heavenly home at 2:09 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2014 at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born on September 30, 1930 to James E. and Mary Agnes (Mooney) Ridenour and they preceded him in death.
On June 25, 1954, he married Jeanette A. Skelly and she survives him. He is also survived by his children, Lu Ann (Rusty) Kaufman of Wapakoneta, Randy Allan (Beth Ann) Ridenour of Lima, Lisa (Michael) Krock of Cridersville and Lori (David) Acheson of Wapakoneta. A daughter, Lynnette Fee preceded him in death. He was the proud grandpa of twenty one grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren (with one on the way). Surviving also include his siblings, Margaret Baber of Lima and Geraldine Beery of Columbus. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, James W. and Richard Ridenour and two sisters Irene Foley and Mildred Ridenour.
Donald was a retired U.S.P.S. mail carrier, who enjoyed his route and his patrons were always glad when he brought his mail. He was a graduate of Lima South High School. He was a Air Force veteran serving in Korea. He was a faithful Lutheran. He enjoyed his grandchildren's school and sporting events, and proudly watched all of their graduations. He was an avid OSU fan; he loved his Cincinnati Reds and the Cleveland Browns.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at SIFERD-ORIANS FUNERAL HOME, with Pastor Michael Phillips officiating and where military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 1275. Friends and family can call Wednesday from 3 – 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Condolences can be made at www.siferd-oriansfuneralhome.com.
