Donald Ray "Donnie" Sweet, 51, of Waynesboro, passed away on Wednesday October 24, 2012 at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Mr. Sweet was born on July 22, 1961 in Waynesboro, and was a son of the late Lewis Hall and Frances Lucille (Wiseman) Sweet, Sr. Donnie has previously worked as a police officer. He greatly enjoyed collecting coins, stamps, crystal dishes, and loved tinkering with computers.
Donnie is survived by three daughters, Jennifer Lynn Sweet of Goshen, Rose Ann Sweet of Ventura, CA, Mary Elizabeth Sweet of Williamsburg; two brothers, Guy Thomas Sweet of Chesterfield, Lewis Hall Sweet, Jr., of Smith Mountain Lake; a sister, Alice Jean (Sweet) McCutcheon of Waynesboro; a granddaughter, Elise Rae Hooton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday October 27, 2012 at 2 PM at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastor Lewis H. Sweet Jr. officiating. Burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital; 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or by visiting www.stjude.org
