Donna J. Mansfield, 86, of Yakima, passed away March 14, 2014 at Cottage in the Meadow.

Donna was born in Yakima to Richard and Marguerite (Witt) Vibbert on October 7, 1927. She grew up in the Yakima area and attended Yakima High School where she took several courses in Bookkeeping. She met the love of her life, Robert C. Mansfield Sr. on a blind date in 1945 and the two were soon married in 1946. The couple was blessed by a son Bobby in 1947, a son Ron in 1949, and a daughter Linda in 1950. Donna stayed active in her children's lives. She acted as Den Mother for her son's Boy Scout Troop and in other school and extra-curricular programs.

She and Robert opened Mansfield TV in 1958, and in 1960 they moved the business to Nob Hill where it's been known as Mansfield Alarm Co. Inc. ever since. Donna was a large part of the business. She used the bookkeeping classes she took in high school to take care of the businesses accounting and administration.

Donna had a fun-loving, generous, and loving spirit. This is evident in many aspects of her life. She and Robert loved to show other's a good time; they would often host barbeques, holiday parties, and family events. Donna reveled in the chance to bring the family together.

Her generosity was evident in the many causes she supported, as well as the way she cared for her employees, family and friends. Children had a large place in her heart. Donna and Robert opened their home to 6 Japanese exchange students over the years, and the two loved to take them on trips around the country and especially to the beach. Donna also made frequent donations to and Smile Train.

She was a caring woman who would go out of her way to help those in need, even at her own expense. Donna was also known to pay employee wages even when they were sick or injured and unable to work.

Robert and Donna loved to travel and in their later years were fortunate enough to take several trips to Reno to visit the casinos, as well as a trip to Japan to visit the exchange students that she and Robert had hosted over the years.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert C. Mansfield Sr.; and a son Robert C. Mansfield Jr.

She is survived by a son Ron (Jenny) Mansfield of Yakima; daughter Linda (Skip) Rodvold of Yakima; grandchildren Rhonda Patrick, Ron Mansfield Jr. , Tom Mansfield, Melinda Belieu, Robert C. Mansfield III, David L. Warren Jr., and Dana L. Hoffman; as well as 10 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Donna is also survived by her beloved dog Mickey.
