Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 13, 2016.

After a lingering illness, Doris Sharp Moss 88, passed peacefully into Heaven Tuesday night. She was born in Birmingham and graduated in 1945 from West End High School, where she was selected for the National Honor Society and played the violin in the Orchestra. In 1946, she married the boy next door, William C. Moss, Jr. They were married 70 years and attended First United Methodist Church of Center Point. She retired from Alabama Power Company, was also a Girl Scout leader, a seamstress, a fisherman, a painter of walls, and a barber, just in case you needed one. Preceding her in death were her parents Lee R. and Lottie Sharp, sister: Margaret Sharp Cornelius (Bill), brother Leroy Sharp, sister-in-law Helen Moss Baham (Roy), brothers-in-law Gene Moss, David Wilson, and Bill Henson. She is survived by her husband, William C. Moss, Jr.; her children Barbara Moss Brannum, Janet Moss Jones (L.G.), Karen Moss Blackwood (Ronny), and William G. Moss (Jan); her grandchildren Brad Romager (Becky), Melissa Brannum Austin (Robert), Jennifer Blackwood McElrath (John), Michael Blackwood (Aleisha), Scott Davis and Matt Davis and many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Surviving sisters-in-law are Robbie Nell Wilson Henson and Juanita E. Moss. The family would like to thank Dr. David Bryant, Dr. Robert Bryant, and their staff for their kindness and care for our mom. We were blessed to have had her for so many years, but will miss her every day until we’re together again. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 16, 2016 from 1 p.m.to 2 p.m. at Elmwood Chapel Funeral with funeral services following at 2 p.m. Burial immediately following at Elmwood Cemetery.
