Doris Marie Allman born on May 22, 1925 in Springfield, Mo. passed from this world into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 22, 2014 at the age of 89. Doris shared her birthday with her twin sister Dolores Emily Kemper. Doris and Dolores were constant companions and started singing together at an early age in church and school activities. At the age of 9 they both accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior at First Baptist Church during a revival in their hometown of Springfield. Doris and Dolores were active in all the church activities growing up. Doris met the love of her life Samuel (Sam) P. Allman on a hay ride when she was 16 and he was 17 years old. Becoming the best of friends they were married on February 17, 1945 and celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary this year. Both Doris and Sam were active members in their church in Springfield until they moved to Dallas, Texas in 1951. After arriving in Dallas she became actively involved with Lochwood Baptist Church, once again singing in the choir. Doris sang many solos in church, at weddings and other events, and through her singing she shared her love of music and inspired many others to sing as well. Doris had a great love and collection of Angels, she loved to do crafts, work in the yard, and sew clothes for her children. After her children left home she took up many hobbies; making shadow boxes, decoupage plates, and dolls to name a few. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton T. Rogers and Ethel P. McMullin, her older sister by 13 years June and twin sister Dolores. She is also preceded in death by her son Jerry who passed when he was 15 years old in 1962. Her family would like to thank the staff at Hospice Compassus who aided and assisted in the care of Doris during her final months here: Fred, Nikki, Dawn, Erika and Ed you were our angels during these last days, thank you for your gift of love, you are all truly a blessing. Survivors include her husband Sam ; three children: Danny and wife Janie of Garland, Texas, Ronnie and wife Cathy of Rowlett, Texas, Cynthia and husband Ralph of Garland, Texas; eight grandchildren: Brad, Allison, Melissa, Ronnie II, Jessica, Samantha, Angela and Adam; three great grandchildren: Lillian, Eleanor and Vivien.
