Doris Annie Sexton, 78, of Thomasville, died Friday, March 1, 2013. She was born in Wilkes County, NC on March 31, 1934 and was the daughter of the late Mae Viola Lyon, of Wilkes County, and the late Charlie Talton Sexton. In addition to her mother and father, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Beach, Sr., a son, James Talton Beach, a stepmother, Lucille Myers Sexton, her brothers, Rayburn Charles Sexton and William Franklin Sexton, Sr., and a granddaughter, Jessica Michelle Lequire. Doris is survived by her son, Robert Lee Beach, Jr., of Thomasville, and his wife Christy; daughters Cynthia Kaye Beach, of Thomasville, and Sandra Lynn Beach, of Lexington, and her partner Ron Leonard; grandsons Brian Wayne McRee, of Arden, and his wife Megan, and Tyler Michael Lequire, of Lexington; granddaughters Melissa Dawn Dennis, of Thomasville, and her fiance Adam Ansikter, Jennifer Christen Lequire, of Thomasville, and Jessica Sabrina Routh, of Thomasville, and her husband Garland; great-grandson Landon James Routh; nephews William Franklin Sexton, Jr., of Colorado, and his wife Susan, Steven Lee Sexton, of Colorado, and Benjamin Reiner Sexton, of Germany; and grand-niece Heather Michelle Sexton, of Colorado.

Doris graduated from Traphill High School in Wilkes County where she was a member of the girls' basketball team. She attended business school in Greensboro afterwards. After marrying Robert on April 28, 1956, the couple bought a house in Thomasville. She did clerical and office work for Pearson, formerly Clyde Pearson Company (High Point), until her retirement. She lived in the same house until her passing.

She had a great love for the outdoors. She was an avid gardener, and was always tending to her vast indoor floral collection as well. She possessed a passion for sewing also, and often gave homemade pillows and aprons as gifts for all occasions. She also enjoyed sitting either outside or by a window and watching the various birds visiting her bird feeders or nesting in the houses that she had hung for them. Above these hobbies however, nothing surpassed her love for her children and grandchildren to whom she was fiercely devoted.

"Memaw...life is so hard without you. No one else in the world will ever understand me the way that you did. Your great grandson is so beautiful! I wish..." Jennifer Lequire (Thomasville, NC)
