Obituary

Doris McKinley passed away quietly in the early hours of July 13, 2014 after complications due to a fall. She was born in Bishop, CA on May 23, 1927 to George and Juanita Wallace who were cattle ranchers. The family moved to Escalon, CA in 1930 after the water in the Owens Valley dried up. Doris attended elementary and high school in Escalon. After high school she studied nursing at Children's Hospital in San Francisco where she received her degree in 1948. She joined the US Navy in 1948 and served as a nurse. While in the navy she met David McKinley. They married in 1950, settling in San Luis Obispo, where David went to California...
Doris McKinley passed away quietly in the early hours of July 13, 2014 after complications due to a fall.
She was born in Bishop, CA on May 23, 1927 to George and Juanita Wallace who were cattle ranchers. The family moved to Escalon, CA in 1930 after the water in the Owens Valley dried up.

Doris attended elementary and high school in Escalon. After high school she studied nursing at Children's Hospital in San Francisco where she received her degree in 1948. She joined the US Navy in 1948 and served as a nurse. While in the navy she met David McKinley. They married in 1950, settling in San Luis Obispo, where David went to California Polytechnic State University.
Doris was an avid world traveler, a sailor, a nurse, a wife but foremost a mother. She was a wonderful role model for her four children, who will dearly miss her.

She is survived by her sister, Barbara Wallace of Mill Valley CA, her brother- George Wallace of Spokane, WA, her children- Janet McKinley of Tiburon, CA, Carol McKinley of Montclair, CA, Rodger McKinley of Maple Valley, WA and Patty McKinley-Grondin of Camp Verde, AZ.
She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
There will be a funeral mass at St. Anthony's Catholic Church on Saturday, July 19 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Robert and Beverly Lewis Cancer Care Center in Pomona, CA.
