Dorothea E. Kuppens, 99, of Otego and formerly of Franklin, passed away on Saturday, July 09, 2011 at the A.O. Fox Hospital. Dorothea was born January 22, 1912 on Chamberlain Hill in Franklin, the daughter of the late Willias and Mary Ida (Jester) Ackley. She married John August Kuppens on November 15, 1934 and he predeceased her on August 24, 1999. Dorothea lived most of her life on the family farm. She moved to Otego from Franklin in 1984. She was a member of the original Congregational Baptist Church of Franklin for over 80 years. She loved to cook and bake, especially for the Walton Fair. Her favorite seasons were the spring for...
Dorothea E. Kuppens, 99, of Otego and formerly of Franklin, passed away on Saturday, July 09, 2011 at the A.O. Fox Hospital.

Dorothea was born January 22, 1912 on Chamberlain Hill in Franklin, the daughter of the late Willias and Mary Ida (Jester) Ackley. She married John August Kuppens on November 15, 1934 and he predeceased her on August 24, 1999.

Dorothea lived most of her life on the family farm. She moved to Otego from Franklin in 1984. She was a member of the original Congregational Baptist Church of Franklin for over 80 years.

She loved to cook and bake, especially for the Walton Fair. Her favorite seasons were the spring for its buds and flowers, and fall for its colorful foliage.

Dorothea was a friend and loving sister to Gerald Ackley of Otego; a loving aunt and "Mother" to Marty Ackley and his wife, Bonnie of Otego; a loving aunt to Sally Smith and her companion, Joyce Monroe of Georgia.

She is also survived by her niece, Roberta Haynes of Franklin; her nephew, John Parks of Pennsylvania and several great nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband and a brother, Donald W. Ackley.

There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the Ouleout Valley Cemetery, Franklin with Rev. Dr. Lyle Linder, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Otego Fire Department, PO Box 303, Otego, NY 13825 or the ASPCA of the donor's choice.
