Dorothy E. Hofer, 87, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2013. Born on May 5, 1925 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania to Nelson and Meredith Sholder; she is survived by her husband Frank of Clearwater, FL, daughters Barbara (Michael) Babb of Mesa, AZ, and Patty Hofer of Safety Harbor, FL, granddaughters Andrea Sargent and Stephanie Babb both of Mesa, AZ and great granddaughter Abigail "Abbey" Sargent of Mesa, AZ.
Dotti enjoyed life to the fullest. It started with her love of singing with her daddy as a young child to performing with family members on the radio from around age 8 to chorus in high school then on to performing with Sweet Adelines in adulthood. Dotti was a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. She was a dedicated Registered Nurse for many years.
She also loved dancing which she did whenever she could find a decent dance partner in high school to participating in square, round and line dancing with Frank. Her mother wouldn't allow tap dance lessons as a child – she somehow thought it would lead her into some type of bad behaviors – so Dotti took it up in her 50's and performed with an adult dance troop.
She also loved to garden, she grew beautiful roses and learned to make artful flower arrangements. There were many homegrown vegetables to add to her very good home cooking. Frank and Dotti loved to travel, especially going on cruises. They were world travelers. Dotti's favorite place was Hawaii.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Suncoast Hospice Pearl Team for their kind and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Suncoast Hospice Foundation at www.thehospicefoundation.org or St. Judes Children's Hospital at www.stjudelegacy.org.
