Dorothy Ann Simpson, 70, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at the Charlier Hospice Center at Deaconess VNA Plus. She was born September 6, 1946, in Evansville, to the late Eugene and Lucile Langston.
She graduated from The Evansville School of Practical Nursing and University of Evansville with an AD Nursing Degree and worked in the OB unit at Deaconess Hospital from 1966 to 2001. Dorothy also worked at St. Mary's Medical Center from 2001 to 2004 and Owensboro-Davies County Hospital from 2004 to 2011. She enjoyed 45 years of loving babies through nursing. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling and continued serving through Deaconess Hospital Auxiliary, where in October 2016 she was elected secretary of the Deaconess Auxiliary Board. She was a longtime member of CrossPointe Trinity Church and attended NorthWoods Church.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 44 years, Donald W. Simpson; daughter, Sara Ann Jordan and her husband, matthew david jordan, of Lubbock, TX; grandchildren, Emma Matilda Jordan, Waylon Jennings Jordan, Jedediah Brady "JB" Jordan; cousin, Lucille Hunt; and nurse friends, Lela Skeath, Liz Stambush, Jill Patz, Mary Jean Whitledge, Judy King, Susie Lamey, Gail Tuggle, and Leslie Grimm.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, May 27, 2017, at NorthWoods Church, 9920 North Green River Road, officiated by Rev. Bobby Pell, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Friday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, and Saturday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ivy Tech Community College – Nursing Scholarship or your favorite charity. Condolences may be offered at www.AlexanderEastChapel.com.
