Dorothy B. (LaCroix) Hetu, age 81, of Acushnet, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Albert R. Hetu.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Conrad and Annie (Ford) LaCroix, she had been a resident of Acushnet for over 50 years. Dorothy was a graduate of Holy Family Holy Name class of 1952. She was employed with the former Sunbeam Bakery in New Bedford for 16 years and later she ran a home day care for area children for over 20 years.
She is survived by her daughter Carol Frates and her husband Charles of Acushnet; three grandchildren Sean and Jennifer Frates both of New Bedford and Erin Frates of Acushnet; two great grandchildren: Massimo Maldonaldo and Leily Frates; two sisters: Geraldine Gonneville of Mattapoisett and Lorraine Berube of Pacoag, RI and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hetu was also the mother of the late Susan Hetu and sister of the late Conrad, Gerald and Gerald LaCroix, Joan Hammarquist, Bernadette Menard and Mae Perry.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 9AM from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by her Funeral Mass at 10AM in St. Francis Xavier Church 125 Main St., Acushnet. Visiting hours will be Friday from 4 to 7PM. Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
