Dorothy E. Sill January 2, 1931 - March 7, 2017 Dorothy Lester Sill born January 2, 1931 in Reyno, Arkansas to George and Vira Lester passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 7, 2017.
Dorothy came to California with her family in 1942. They lived in Grayson and she attended schools in Patterson. Education was important to her. So while she was a young mother raising four children she attended night school and obtained her high school diploma. She worked at Kellers for many years in the gift department. Then with diploma in hand she obtained a job at Center State Bank. Dorothy worked up to the position of Operations Manager at Great Valley Bank.
Dorothy loved dancing. When she married her sweetheart and dance partner Edgar Sil theyl participated in several dance clubs including Ceres Twisters, Golden Ages and the Riverbank Dance club . She was the past President of Forever Young Dance Club at the Modesto Senior Center. She loved traveling; going to Mexico, Australia, Nova Scotia and Hawaii. There were many trips with her sweetheart Edgar in their 5th wheel.
Dorothy leaves behind her husband Edgar Sill, brother George Lester, daughters Brenda Ford, Karen Guthrie (Gary), Dorothy Ford (Ron) and son Dennis Ford (Patti), stepdaughters Julie Gleaves, Karen Easley (Robert) and Gena Brummel. She also leaves a combination of 25 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dorothy and Ed attended Village Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Ceres. Rev. Adrian Condit will be officiating her service on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at 10:00am at the Lakewood Memorial Chapel in Hughson. Viewing is at 9:00 am.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, Ca. 95356.
