Dorothy Lachance Obituary

Dorothy (Fairhurst) Lachance, age 88, of Swansea, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Clifton Rehabilitative and Nursing Center. She was the wife of Daniel Lachance to whom she has been married for twenty-nine years and she was the former wife of the late Edward Moreira.

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Raymond and Eva (Petit) Fairhurst, she was a lifelong area resident.

She worked in the Garment Industry for over twenty years before retiring in 1990. She was a longtime member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She was also a member of the Our Lady of Fatima Seniors and the Swansea Seniors.

Mrs. Lachance enjoyed crafting, reading, ceramics, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband she is survived by three daughters: Carol Perry and her husband Joaquim of Bedford, MA, Sheila Horton and her husband Allen of Canton, OH, Kathy Messier and her husband Richard of Swansea, one son; Edward Moreira and his wife Donna Dumont of Dartmouth, three step-sons; Dr. Daniel Lachance and his wife Donna of Rochester, MN, Roger Lachance and his wife Debra of Palm Coast, FL, Michael Lachance and his wife Cindy of Swansea, son-in-law; Marc Messier, eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Pauline Messier and step-mother of the late Paul Lachance.

Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 8:30AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Birchcrest, 189 Gardner's Neck Rd., Swansea, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardner's Neck Rd., Swansea. Visiting hours Friday from 5:00 to 8:00PM. Burial in Note Dame Cemetery, Fall River. For tributes or directions: www.waring-sullivan.com
