Went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the age of 94. Dorothy was born July 23, 1923, in Lower Salem, Ohio, daughter of William and Tora (McVay) Tewanger. She was a graduate of Harrietsville High School, Harrietsville, Ohio, Class of 1943.
She worked at Electro Wire in Mason for several years, upon retiring resumed her favorite role as a homemaker. She was an active member of Pennway Church of God, taking trips with Prime and doing volunteer work for the Church of God in Michigan. She enjoyed spending time with her family and taking trips with them.
She spent the last two and a half years at the Willows in Okemos, doing crafts and playing bingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Tora Tewanger, her husband Arthur in 1990, her sisters, Faye McVicar, Glenda Kehl, her brothers, Roy Tewanger, Harry Tewanger, and Chuck Tewanger. Survived by her four boys, Barry (Goldie) Kurtzhals, Gerald (Marilyn) Kurtzhals, Marco Kurtzhals, Michael (Stephanie) Kurtzhals, seven grandchildren, Lisa Stearns, Rebecca (Steve) Adams, Teri (George) Korczowski, Matthew Kurtzhals, Christopher Kurtzhals, Austin (Kailee) Kurtzhals, Alyvia Kurtzhals, and three great grandchildren, Landon Stearns, Aaron Stearns and Denver Kurtzhals, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral is Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at Pennway Church of God, 1101 E. Cavanaugh Rd., Lansing, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. Visitation Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Gorsiline Runciman Funeral Home Ball Dunn Chapel, 621 S. Jefferson Street, Mason, Michigan. Burial is at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Okemos, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pennway Church of God. To share your memories of Dorothy go to www.grbdmason.com.
