Dorothy Ola Akins
1928-2011
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Dale Bingham, pastor of Arden Road Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Dorothy was born Aug. 19, 1928, in Howe. She married Charles E. Akins on July 18, 1943, in Canyon. They were married for 63 years.
Dorothy was known as a very patient and loving woman. She was a mother to everyone she met. She was a longtime member of Arden Road Baptist Church. She was an avid seamstress.
Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2006; a son, Edward Lee Akins, in 1998; a granddaughter, Sara Akins, in 1996; and a son-in-law, James A. Stout Jr., in 2002.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas Akins and wife Kathy of Livingston, Jay Akins and wife Kim, and Chuck Akins; three daughters, Denice Stout, Cindy Shumate and husband Mike, and Rayneen Artis; 14 grandchildren, Anna Braxton and husband John, Kim Venable, Thomas Akins Jr., Kristi Koettel and husband George, Michael Stout, Michelle Stout, Jay Akins II, Chris Akins, Brittni Akins, Jessica Hulse and husband Preston, Denise Bussey, Dale Bussey and wife Ashley, Jenalee Akins and Kailee Akins; numerous "GREAT"-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Kevin Bussey.

She will be greatly missed. I know she is in Heaven with our Lord & Chuck & Edward. My prayers go out to her children, grandchildren, & great grandchildren. I will always cherish my good memories of her, I loved her.Love in Christ, Deborah Carlile Leavitt
