ASTOR, Dorothy "Dottie" Douglas Denny, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Elmcroft of Washington Township after a brave and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born August 28, 1922 in Kentucky and was a long-time resident of Miamisburg. Dottie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Astor; parents, Joe and Edith Denny, her sister, Anna Matter and her brother, Joe W. Denny. Dottie is survived by her daughters, Karen (Thom) Pompos and Pam (Ron) Siler and son, Doug (Elaine) Astor. She was the proud grandmother of grandchildren, Lisa, Jeff, Doug, Kellie, Brian and Brad and of great grandchildren, Tucker, Holden, Kamryn, Erica, Ryan, Lauren, Miranda, Sydney, Haley, Travis, Addison, Zoe, Colton, Jackson and Hadley. Dottie was a graduate of Miamisburg High School Class of 1940 and attended the American Institute of Banking. She retired from the former National City Bank of Dayton as a teller after many years. Dottie was an avid traveler having visited Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, the Caribbean and the Panama Canal. She especially enjoyed the family vacations to the Great Smokey Mountains and Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, FL. Dottie was a "great" mom and will be truly missed by her family. It was Dottie's wish that services be private at the convenience of her immediate family at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Burial will take place at Ellerton Cemetery, Miamisburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton or the Alzheimer's Association, Miami Valley Chapter.
