Dorothy Myers Begoon, 92, a resident of Weyers Cave, passed away at Willow Estates in Penn Laird, on Friday, June 6, 2014. She had been ill the past several years. She was born on August 6, 1921 in Augusta County and was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Maude Estelle Sprouse Myers. Dorothy lived her entire life in Weyers Cave and was an inspector with American Safety Razor for 28 years before retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Weyers Cave United Methodist Church and Women's Circle at the Church. She enjoyed cross stitching, sewing, reading and gardening. Dorothy Myers Begoon, 92, a resident of Weyers Cave, passed away at Willow Estates in Penn Laird, on Friday, June 6, 2014. She had been ill the past several years.

She was born on August 6, 1921 in Augusta County and was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Maude Estelle Sprouse Myers.

Dorothy lived her entire life in Weyers Cave and was an inspector with American Safety Razor for 28 years before retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Weyers Cave United Methodist Church and Women's Circle at the Church. She enjoyed cross stitching, sewing, reading and gardening.

Her husband Harry Orville Begoon preceded her in death in 1953.

She is survived by her children James "Jimmy" Miller and wife, Barbara, of Grottoes, Nellie M. Riddel and husband, James N. Riddel, Jr., of Weyers Cave, Brenda M. Weaver and husband, Alvin, of Weyers Cave, Dianne M. Morris and husband John A., of Grottoes, Jennifer B. Berry and husband, John L., of Mechanicsville; two step-daughters, Charlotte B. Meyerhoeffer of Mt. Crawford and Harriet B. Moyers of Harrisonburg; 11 grandchildren; numerous step grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Kathleen Landes of Weyers Cave.

She was also preceded in death by one sister and seven brothers.

The family will receive friends 6:30-8:00 PM Monday, June 9, 2014 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Weyers Cave United Methodist Church with Rev. Wes Thornberry officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Weyers Cave UMC Building Fund, in her memory.
