Dorothy Viola Cameron died at the age of 95 Thursday evening, June 7, in her home with her loving husband of over 70 years and her oldest daughter present.
She was born March 22, 1917 in Helena, Montana as the first of four children born to Clarence August Hansen and Hilda (McCready) Hansen. After living in Montana, Canada and Washington her family moved to Medford, Oregon where she graduated from High School. She met Rob Roy Cameron at the Medford First Christian Church where they were both members of the youth group. They were married December 28, 1941. In 1965 they moved to Oregon City.
Dorothy devoted her life to her three children, her husband and her church. She was a member of Clackamas Bible Church and served as a Sunday School teacher and nursery attendant for many years. She volunteered as secretary for 10 years for North Clackamas Christian School when it first started.
She enjoyed walking, gardening, raising African violets, crocheting, playing the piano and cuddling babies. She was warm, loving, caring, generous and willing to help in any way she could.
In addition to her husband Rob Roy, she is survived by: brothers, Ben Hansen and his wife Glenda and Clarence Hansen and his wife Weltha; son Donald Cameron and his wife Marsha; daughters Janet Vernon and her husband David and Mary Jane Sauerwein and her husband Joel; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister June Rose Hansen and one grandson Bryan Scott Cameron.
The family wishes to thank those in the Keiser Palliative Care and Hospice programs who made it possible for her to enjoy staying in her own home for the past two years as she wished.
Memorial contributions may be given to North Clackamas Christian School in Oregon City, Clackamas Bible Church or Gideons International.
