Obituary

Dorothy Mae Lewis Chitwood, 82, of Simpson Circle, Cartersville, passed away December 19, 2012. Mrs. Chitwood was born July 20, 1930 in Paulding County, the daughter of the late, Howard V. and Lucille (Guyton) Lewis and was a member of Rowland Springs Baptist Church. She loved cooking, quilting, sewing, taking care of her family, attending her family reunions and loved vacationing in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Herman, James, Clyde and Donald Lewis and a sister, Mary Lewis Woods. Dorothy Mae Lewis Chitwood, 82, of Simpson Circle, Cartersville, passed away December 19, 2012.
Mrs. Chitwood was born July 20, 1930 in Paulding County, the daughter of the late, Howard V. and Lucille (Guyton) Lewis and was a member of Rowland Springs Baptist Church. She loved cooking, quilting, sewing, taking care of her family, attending her family reunions and loved vacationing in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Herman, James, Clyde and Donald Lewis and a sister, Mary Lewis Woods.
Surviving is her husband of 64 years, Cecil Chitwood, her daughter and son in law, Sandra and Edde Yancey, one grandson, Michael Yancey, one brother and sister in law, Gene and Wilma Lewis of Cartersville, one sister, Helen Lewis Shinall of Atlanta, sister in law, JoAnne Lewis of Douglasville and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 21, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Martin and Rev. Lewis Martin officiating.
Burial will follow in Rowland Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Welchel, Alton King, Harold Barrett, Paul Barrett, Ronald Nally and Tony Sanford.
Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, Georgia is in charge of the arrangements.
