Peoria- Dorothy Jean Dandles, age 83, of Bloomington, formerly Peoria, passed away Tuesday April 29, 2014 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Bloomington. Born February 14, 1931 in Covington, TN, she was a daughter to the late Freeman and Mattie Roper-Asbury. She married Archel Mack, and later remarried to Ernest B. Dandles, he preceded her in 1996. Jean worked as a therapist for various medical clinics most of her life. She was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Bloomington. Peoria- Dorothy Jean Dandles, age 83, of Bloomington, formerly Peoria, passed away Tuesday April 29, 2014 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Bloomington.



Born February 14, 1931 in Covington, TN, she was a daughter to the late Freeman and Mattie Roper-Asbury. She married Archel Mack, and later remarried to Ernest B. Dandles, he preceded her in 1996. Jean worked as a therapist for various medical clinics most of her life. She was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Bloomington. Jean enjoyed cooking and will be remembered for mentoring many young men and women over the years. Considered as a mother to everyone in the church and community, she was well loved and well known by everyone.



She is survived by nine children: Darlene Mortimer of Canton, Onia F. Mack of Riverdale, GA, Larry J. Mack, Archel Mack, Jr., Rickey Mack all of Peoria, Gary L. Mack of Chicago, Karen (LeRoy) Linwood of Peoria, Christina (Louis) Barney of Lincoln, and Devon V. Mack of Peoria; 43 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two sisters Verlene Perry of Memphis, TN and Ardelia Coleman of Halls, TN, as well as , numerous nieces and nephews.



Jean was preceded in death by her parents, two grandchildren, and three brothers.



Visitation will be held on Saturday May 10, 2014 from 12:00 PM until time of funeral service at 2:00 PM at Davison Fulton Woodland Chapel, 2021 N. University, in Peoria. Pastor David Wayne Brown of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church will officiate, and burial will follow in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.



Memorials may be made in Jean’s memory to the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 701 S. Oakland Ave. Bloomington, Illinois 61701.
