Dorothy "Faye" English, 89, of Bigler, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Mt. Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield.

Born on January 5, 1923, in Bigler, PA, she was the daughter of Clark N. and Lena M. (Wisor) Williams.

Mrs. English had been employed by the former Clearfield Cheese and McGregor's Sportswear.

She was a member of the Bigler United Methodist Church, where she held numerous offices in the church and organized the Church dinners.

Mrs. English served as a volunteer for the Clearfield County Election Board, the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society.

She was always concerned and caring toward her family, friends and neighbors. Mrs. English especially enjoyed gardening, yard work, bird watching, embroidery crocheting and quilting.

She is survived by two sons: Gary L. English and his wife Marjorie of Howard, R. Eugene English and his wife Delores of Bigler; a daughter, Sherry Jo Simbeck and her husband Donald of Brockway; five grandchildren: Melody Fortney and her husband Todd of Mt. Union, Clark N. English of Lamar, Kimberly Adkinson and her husband Carter of Baltimore, MD, William Green, Jr. and his wife Ellen of Butler and Neil Green of DuBois; five great-grandchildren: Isabella, Sofia, Chelsea, Julia, and Cole; one brother, Clair Williams and his wife, Jean of Hyde; four sisters: Geneva Snyder, Marjorie Smeal, Patricia Wallace and her husband, Ardell, all of Clearfield; Maxine Owens and her husband Russell of Woodland and a sister in-law, Christine Williams of Gearhartville. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter M. English, whom she married on February 16, 1946 and who passed away on July 29, 1995 and a brother, Marvin Williams.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Bigler United Methodist Church with Rev. Kathy Leigey officiating. Interment will follow in the Bigler Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfield, on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 from 6:00-9:00 PM and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 until the hour of services.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Bigler United Methodist Church, Smeal Road, Bigler, PA 16825 or to the charity of one's choice.

You were more than you know and helped make me the person I am today. I will always miss you just as I have pap but I know you are happy and in a better place now! Always in my thoughts and great memories! LOVE YOU GRAM!!!!

Wilda Williams

Faye was a huge part of our church and was a great friend. She has been sorely missed since she went to Mountain Laurel. She will continue to be missed by all who knew her. God now has another angel in Heaven.
