With heavy hearts the family of Dorothy Hendricks of Saskatoon announces her passing at the age of 88, passing peacefully with her family at her side. She is survived by her children Laura (Merlin), Doug (Rhonda), and Janice (Doug); 6 grandchildren; sister Helen; and nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was born February 8, 1925 in Toronto to Augustus and Rachel Smith, the youngest of 3 children.

Mom started her working career after grade 11. She contributed to the war effort by working at a munitions factory proudly 'doing her part'. She then worked in stenography for some 22 years, after which she retired to dedicate herself to her family.

Throughout her life Mom enjoyed many activities, but especially singing, dancing, and travel, and in her younger years, skating. Later in life, she enjoyed singing, bowling, drawing, and being an active member of her church.

It was during World War II that Mom met her future husband, Gordon, at a servicemen's dance, which was the beginning of their 65 years together.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Gordon (2010); her parents Augustus and Rachel Smith; and her brother Henry.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Lung Association or the Saskatchewan Professional Firefighters Burn Fund would be appreciated.

The family would like to thank the wonderful people at Prairie Spring Care Homes for all their loving compassion.

As per Mom's wishes, there will be a graveside interment service for family.
Mom, we love you and miss you already. Arrangements entrusted to Lisa Bos of Acadia-McKague's Funeral Centre, Saskatoon, SK. Condolences may be sent via acadiamckaguesfuneralcentre.com
