Dorothy "Dot" M. (Slaven) Cooper Lucas, 92, of Rockton, died at home Friday, September 2, 2011. She was the loving wife of William "Bill" C. Lucas. He survives. Dot was born on December 29, 1918 in Clarksburg, WV, a daughter of the late John and Myrtle (Cumley) Slaven. She was successfully self employed in the business of real estate and owned several rental properties through out the DuBois Area. Dot loved to cook. She enjoyed golfing and playing bridge and was the past president of the DuBois Country Club. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and attended Smithtown Community Church. In...
Dorothy "Dot" M. (Slaven) Cooper Lucas, 92, of Rockton, died at home Friday, September 2, 2011. She was the loving wife of William "Bill" C. Lucas. He survives.

Dot was born on December 29, 1918 in Clarksburg, WV, a daughter of the late John and Myrtle (Cumley) Slaven.

She was successfully self employed in the business of real estate and owned several rental properties through out the DuBois Area. Dot loved to cook. She enjoyed golfing and playing bridge and was the past president of the DuBois Country Club.

She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and attended Smithtown Community Church.

In addition to her husband, Dot is survived by a son: Robert Cooper and his wife, Pamela of Brookville; two step daughters: Jennifer Herr and her husband, Don of Bloomington, IN and Mary Plunkett and her husband, Michael of Lakeland, FL; a daughter in law: Mary Cooper of Brockway; three grandchildren; six step grandchildren; five great grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Also surviving is a brother: Dick Slaven of Bradford; and two sisters: Teresa Sullivan of Pittsburgh and Joann Jolly of CT.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her first husband, Arnold V. Cooper; and two sons, Gregory and William Cooper.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Smithtown Community Church in Falls Creek with her pastor, Reverend Harold C. Hills officiating. A time of visitation with family and friends will be Tuesday at the church at 10:00am until the time of service. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery. Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
