Dorothy F. McCartha
WHITE ROCK – Funeral services for Dorothy F. McCartha, 75, will be held at 2:00 p.m, Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel with interment in Bush River Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home chapel. Memorials may be made, in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
Mrs. McCartha was born May 26, 1937 in Smyrna, DE and passed away on Monday, February 18, 2013. She was a daughter of the late John Abner Fortner and Wilemina Shelton Fortner. Mrs. McCartha retired from Lexington School District Five. She was a member of Christian Life Church.
Mrs. McCartha is survived by her daughters, Vonnie White (Gregg) and Carol Abbott (Levi); daughter-in-law, Candi Dykes; husband, Howard R. McCartha; sisters, Pauline McCartney and Shirley Ottinger; 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mrs. McCartha was predeceased by her son, Jimmy Dykes.
The family would like to thank her CLA family for their thoughts and prayers; Mrs. Beth Boison and Dr. Robert Callis for their care; the seventh floor medical staff at Lexington Medical Center; Agape Hospice for their compassionate care and her friends at Dutch Fork High School.
