STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Lifelong Meiers Corners resident Dorothy Mullick, 62, a bank teller who loved entertaining her family and friends for the holidays, died Sunday in Richmond University Medical Center, West Brighton, after a 30-year battle with lupus.

In spite of the limitations caused by her illness, she participated in the March of Dimes' Walk America and actively raised funds to support a cure.

Born Dorothy Tracy, she graduated from Port Richmond High School.

Mrs. Mullick was a teller for 10 years at Richmond County Savings Bank in Port Richmond. Prior to that, she worked for 20 years at Louis Florist in West Brighton, where she developed her love of flowers and gardening.

She enjoyed listening to classic rock music and was a "Star Wars" fan. She especially loved hosting her family and friends for the holidays, and welcomed all to her table.

"She was a devoted wife and mother," her family said.

Mrs. Mullick attended St. John's Lutheran Church, Port Richmond.

Her husband of 32 years, Donald, died in 2004. She also was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Cecilia Mullick-Mata, in 2009.
