Dorothy "Dottie" Belle Shackelford, 92, went home to be with the Lord on April 30, 2014. She was born in Granite City, Illinois on September 13, 1921 and graduated as queen and valedictorian of Granite City Community High School, and then attended and graduated from Brown's Business College. She was later employed as a secretary/bookkeeper at the B.C. MacDonald Company in St. Louis, Missouri. She married the late Gale Houston Shackelford on November 24, 1941 and later moved to Calumet City, Illinois. In 1955, they moved to Lake Cable in Canton, Ohio, where she raised her family. Dorothy "Dottie" Belle Shackelford, 92, went home to be with the Lord on April 30, 2014.

She was born in Granite City, Illinois on September 13, 1921 and graduated as queen and valedictorian of Granite City Community High School, and then attended and graduated from Brown's Business College. She was later employed as a secretary/bookkeeper at the B.C. MacDonald Company in St. Louis, Missouri.

She married the late Gale Houston Shackelford on November 24, 1941 and later moved to Calumet City, Illinois. In 1955, they moved to Lake Cable in Canton, Ohio, where she raised her family. Dottie and her family were members of Church of the Lakes United Methodist. Dottie was very involved in her community. Her activities included being a volunteer Gray Lady for the hospital, the Jolly Jackson Jubilee, PTA president at Jackson, Lake Cable Women's Club, Lake Cable and Canton Cultural Garden Clubs, bowling leagues at Embassy and Colonial Lanes, and president of the "Sandies" golf league in Southern Pines, NC. Dottie was also an avid golfer and member of Oakwood Country Club.

Dottie spent her later years with her best friend, William L. "Bill" Haase in Southern Pines, NC, where they enjoyed golf and friends. The Haase family was a dear and loving part of Dottie's life.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by loving son, Brent Allen Shackelford; mother and father, Daniel and Alma Earnhardt; and brother Daniel Earnhardt II.

Dottie is survived by her daughters, Cheryl R. (Jeffrey D.) Sigler, and Karen A. Moser; grandchildren, Lana and Lance Shackelford, Meghan (Nick) Johns, Rachael Moser, Gabe (Kelly) Moser, Molly and Monica Sigler; great grandchildren, Brexton, Kane, Isaac, and Brayla.

The family would like to thank Aultman Hospital and Oakhill Manor Care of Louisville for their tender loving care. Dottie will be remembered as a loving, caring mother who was always concerned for others.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 in the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 1-2pm on Tuesday, one hour before services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stark County Humane Society.
