The first of four children, Dottie spent her formative years on Long Island and on the Main Line near Philadelphia. Dottie attended Miss Porter's School in Farmington, Connecticut and was a graduate of the class of 1956 (she took great pride in the fact that she, her mother, and her daughter, Tiffany, all were graduated from Miss Porter's). She graduated from Vassar College in 1960 with a degree in Art History. She married Dorsett David Smith, M.D. on June 12, 1962. Thereafter, she happily assumed the role of doctor's wife and mother to their three children. She and her family lived in Philadelphia, Easton, Maryland, and for nearly 30 years, in Everett. While in Everett, she worked as Director and served on the Board of the Crisis Pregnancy Center and served as Secretary to the Everett Gospel Mission. More recently, she and her husband had retired to Carefree, Arizona.
After a prolonged illness, Dottie left us to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on December 26, 2012. She was a devout Christian and a beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Dottie had a special sweetness and loving character that was evident even during her illness. At her core, it was truly who she was.
Dottie was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Dorsett Smith; her three children, Todd Smith, Tiffany Smith Hunter and Carrie Smith Trabue. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Taylor Smith, Madeline Smith, Garrett Smith, Olivia Smith, Lucy Hunter, Tommy Trabue and Drew Trabue. She is also survived by her three siblings and their children and grandchildren.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at New Life Center in Everett.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Everett Gospel Mission, PO Box 423, Everett, WA, 98206-0423 or the Everett Pregnancy Resource Center, 4310 Hoyt Avenue, Everett, WA, 98203.
